LATE ARRIVAL IN ESTONIA DUE TO DELAYED FLIGHTS

The NWU basketball team was very excited to leave for Estonia Wednesday morning. The flight out of Omaha was scheduled for 1:15 p.m.; however, the flight was delayed until 2:30 p.m.  This delay caused the team to miss the connecting flight in Chicago to Stockholm, Sweden. Coach Schuknecht and Ira weighed the possible options and decided that the team would wait in Chicago for six hours. The next available flight was scheduled for 10:05 p.m. to Copenhagen, Denmark with a connecting flight to Tallinn, Estonia.
Members of the team spent the six hours of free time in many different ways. Some played pitch, while others walked around O'Hare International Airport. United Airlines was nice enough to give the entire team fifteen dollar meal vouchers for the inconvience. The flight to Copenhagen flew out on schedule, and the team landed around 2:00 p.m. The last of three flights was only a short wait. The final flight to Tallinn arrived approximately five o'clock p.m. Estonian local time.
The team was met by Harry Huge and Larry Mohr who had just arrived nearly the same time in Tallinn. Sass's dad met the team and had taxis organized to take everyone to the hotel. At the hotel, the team ate dinner and was released for some free time to see the city. Many chose to stay at the hotel and head to bed. Tomorrow the team plans to practice in the morning, meet with the foreign affairs ministry, and meet the U.S. ambassador. A formal dinner will also be held at the hotel following the daily tours.
