Today started bright and early for the NWU basketball team with an 8 AM ferry ride to Helsinki, Finland. The team arrived in Finland a little after 10 AM and immediately hopped into a bus for a two hour tour of the city. They were able to see many of the historical sites of the port city. Finland is rich in history and culture. The team saw old statues of Alexandar II, the old city square, and numerous churches. They visited the Helsinki Olympic stadium as well as the industrial ports that produce ships for all parts of the world.
After the tour the team spent time eating a pizza buffet and then had the afternoon to themselves. We enjoyed the afternoon in the beautiful port city. We could not have asked for a better day: the sun shined all day, temperatures were in the low 70s, and the humidity was non-existant. Team members spent time shopping, visiting sites, and resting. Many of the team members took naps in one of Helsinki's numerous parks.
The highlight of the day was watching team member Andrew Mitteis bungie jump from a 450 foot crane. The video of this will be available soon.
After relaxing and enjoying the afternoon the team headed back to Tallin on the ferry to get some rest. Many of the team members are tired from the long day and are looking forward to a good nights rest before practice in the morning. Day 3 was busy, but a success. Goodnight from Tallin.
